Agriculture remains a foundational component of Jefferson County’s economy, land use pattern, and rural identity. The Jefferson County Planning and Community Development Department works closely with farmers, municipalities, and regional partners to sustain a viable agricultural sector and ensure that farmland remains a productive and enduring asset in the County’s landscape.
Through targeted planning efforts and programs, the County advances policies and initiatives that support active farming, minimize land use conflicts, and reinforce the long-term use of agricultural land. This work is intended to protect farmland and to maintain the operational conditions necessary for agriculture to remain a competitive and integral part of Jefferson County’s future.
