โœ… What are the qualifications to register to vote?

To register to vote in New York State, you must:

  • Be a United States citizen

  • Be at least 18 years old by Election Day (or pre-register at 16 or 17)

  • Reside in the county or city for at least 30 days before the election

  • Not be currently incarcerated for a felony conviction

  • Not claim the right to vote elsewhere

You can make changes to your voter registrationโ€”including party affiliationโ€”by submitting a new registration form. Changes must be received by the Board of Elections at least 10 days before an election.
