Early Voting, 2025

  • All eligible voters can vote in person before an election. All sites are accessible to voters with physical disabilities.


    EARLY VOTING SITES:


  • Jefferson County Office Building, 175 Arsenal Street, Watertown, NY 13601. 

    Parking is available in the county lot behind the building (off Sherman St.). If you come during the week, please use the intercom to tell the gatekeeper you are here to vote and park in the spaces for visitors.

  • What is Early Voting?  
  • Early Voting is nine days of voting, prior to Election Day, for you to vote at any of our Early Voting Centers. It is the same as casting your vote on Election Day.
    Votes cast before election day, during the Early Voting period will be canvassed and reported after 9 P.M. on Election Day. (Polls are open on Election Day from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.)

    Who can vote early?  

    ALL registered voters in Jefferson County are entitled to vote during Early Voting and may cast their ballot at any one of the Early Voting Centers across Jefferson County.

    When can I vote early? 

    The Early Voting period for the Primary Election will start on Saturday, June 14th through Sunday, June 22nd. For the General Election Early Voting will start on Saturday, October 25th through Sunday, November 2nd.


    Absentee and Early Vote by Mail Ballots

    Who May Apply for an Absentee Ballot? 

    You may qualify to vote absentee for the following reasons:

    1. Absent from your county or, if a resident of New York City absent from the five boroughs, on Election Day.
    2. Unable to appear at the polls due to temporary or permanent illness or disability.
    3. Unable to appear because you are the primary care giver of one or more individuals who are ill or physically disabled.
    4. A resident or patient of a Veterans Health Administration Hospital.
    5. In jail or prison for any reason other than a felony conviction. This includes anyone who is awaiting grand jury action, awaiting trial, or serving a sentence for a misdemeanor.
    6. Who May Apply for an Early Mail Ballot?

  • Any registered voter may apply for an early mail ballot. Each person must apply for themselves. It is a felony to make a false statement in an application for an early mail ballot, to attempt to cast an illegal ballot, or to help anyone to cast an illegal ballot.
