Classroom Training Grants

Classroom training grants (CRT) are available for participants who are entering into an approved training program, provided the participant meets certain eligibility requirements and funding is available.

When can we help?

We can help if you're pursuing education in an occupation that's in high demand in Jefferson & Lewis counties and meets the following requirements:

  • The education will lead to a sustainable wage job
  • You have 2 years or less to finish your undergraduate degree
  • The classes you need to take are either not eligible for financial aid or cost more than your financial aid will cover.
  • CRT Funding can only be applied towards tuition & required fees. It does not apply to the cost of books, lodging, or transportation at this time.
  • Please note that if your parents or guardians claim you on their income taxes, you must meet the Federal Poverty Guidelines to be eligible for funding.

If this fits your situation, please take a look at the instructions below, which will give you the information you need to seek a Classroom Training Grant from The WorkPlace.

What occupations are in high demand?

While our in-demand occupations change frequently,
the following occupations seem to always be in need:

  • CDL Class A and Class B Drivers
  • Electricians
  • HVAC Technicians and Plumbers
  • Welders
  • LPNs (Licensed Practical Nurses)
  • RNs (Registered Nurses)
