Unemployment Information
If you have been laid off, the only way to know if you will qualify for Unemployment Benefits is to apply.
The only way to apply is either online at www.labor.ny.gov or over the phone at 1-888-209-8124. If your phone is from out of NYS, please call 1-877-358-5306 instead.
For Hearing Impaired (TTY/TDD) please call 1-800-662-1220 and ask the relay operator to call 1-888-783-1370
The New York State Department of Labor is planning to upgrade its unemployment insurance system. Here's what you need to know:
- PAYMENT DELAY -- The upgrade period will delay unemployment benefits payments. Once the upgraded system is available, you must file a claim to receive ALL payments due to you.
- SERVICES UNAVAILABLE -- During the upgrade period all unemployment services will be temporarily unavailable.
- DATES & DEADLINES -- The upgrade period will begin MONDAY, 11/02/2026 at 5PM. This is the last opportunity for you to file a claim or certify before the upgrade begins. The upgrade period is expected to take 9 to 12 days. If you miss this deadline, you can certify or file your claim when the upgraded system is available.
