Department of Highways Operational Overview

The Department oversees the engineering, installation, construction, improvement, repair and maintenance of all county roads, signs, and bridges within its jurisdiction. 

Support Services for other municipalities and agencies include shared services, equipment rental, survey and technical assistance including design, drainage calculations, construction practice's and traffic engineering.

The Highway department also performs maintenance and repairs on the majority of vehicles owned and operated by Jefferson County. The sign shop makes all the signs used on County Roads, as well as decals for County vehicles.
